B Class Lifeboat - Atlantic 75 - Inshore Lifeboat (ILB)

First developed at Atlantic College in Wales and then at then by the RNLI, the Atlantic is a rigid inflatable (RIB) with twin Yahama 75 hp outboard motors, and can operate in conditions up to gale force 7. It provides a rapid response in inshore emergencies. It has a manually operated self-righting mechanism and is capable of being beached without damage to engines or steering. First introduced in 1993 and now updated in 2005 to Atlantic 85.
